He completed postgraduate studies (art history) at the universities of Paris (Sorbonne) and Rome, especially with professors Víctor Luían Tapié and Guilio Carlos Argan, 1962-1965. He was professor at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the Universidad Veracruzana, 1959-1962 and director of it, 1961-1962. Research Professor at the Colegio de México, Center for Historical Studies 1965-1970. Research of Instituto de Investigaciones Estéticas, UNAM, since 1968, Emeritus research sice 2000. Founding director of the National Museum of Art, INBA, 1982-1983. Director of the Museum of Modern Art of the INBA, 1987-1988. He was a Mexican writer, historian, researcher and academic. He specialized in art criticism and art history in Mexico. He has been considered an international authority for the restoration and rescue of historic buildings.
