Resumen: This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 7th International Conference on Applied Parallel Computing, PARA 2004, held in Lyngby, Denmark, in June 2004. The 118 revised full papers presented together with 5 invited lectures and 15 contributed talks were carefully reviewed and selected for inclusion in the proceedings. The papers are organized in topical sections on interval methods, trends in large scale computing, high performance linear algebra algorithms, substructuring, dimension reduction and applications, parallel processing in science and engineering, distributed computing: tools, paradigms and infrastructures, high-performance computing in earth and space science, advanced algorithms and software components and software engineering and problem solving environments for scientific computing, runtime software techniques for enabling high-performance applications, sparse direct linear solvers, treatment of large scientific models, performance evaluation and design of hardware-aware PDE solvers, computationally expensive methods in statistics, and approaches or methods of security engineering (AMSE).
