The original Maya text followed by the english translation. "Weknow from internal evidence taht the (book of ) Chilam Balam of Chumayel was compiled by Don Juan Josef Holf of that town, as wefind his nam signed to a notation written in the same hand as the rest of the book an dated 1782". The work also contains passages wich were evidently written, or inspired by the Spanish missionaires.
