520 _aInternational Clinical Sociology Edited by Jan Marie Fritz, College of Art, Architecture, and Planning, University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, OH International Clinical Sociology showcases the art and science of clinical sociologists from around the world. Clinical sociology is a creative, humanistic, and multidisciplinary specialization that seeks to improve life situations for individuals and collectivities. Clinical sociologists work with client systems to assess situations and avoid, reduce, or eliminate problems through a combination of analysis and intervention. International Clinical Sociology is the first volume to present basic clinical sociology diagrams and models in addition to detailed histories of clinical sociology in the United States, Quebec, France and Japan. A range of interventions are discussed in light of a region’s economic, social, political, and/or disciplinary history. Among the topics that are covered: mediation, environmental justice activities in Brazil, focus groups for international clients, bereavement, conflict prevention work in Malaysia, movement building in the United States, a therapeutic house for adults that is under the care of the Italian Association of Clinical Sociologists, mental health challenges in China and street children in Mexico.
